Status: DRAFT - Awaiting Legal Review and Service Launch
1. Introduction
1.1 Agreement to Terms
Welcome to Turf! These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Turf's websites, mobile applications, and services (collectively, the "Service"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy.
If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use the Service.
1.2 About Turf
Turf is a social platform featuring 24-hour ephemeral group chats called "Circles." Each Circle focuses on a daily topic and resets at midnight UTC, creating fresh conversations every day. Our mission is to foster authentic, in-the-moment discussions without the burden of permanent digital footprints.

- You are at least 16 years of age
- You have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms
- You will comply with these Terms and all applicable laws
- You have not been previously banned or suspended from Turf
1.4 Changes to Terms
We may modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes via email or through the Service at least 30 days before they take effect. Your continued use of the Service after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.
2. User Accounts
2.1 Account Creation
To use Turf, you must create an account by providing:
- A unique username
- A valid email address
- A secure password
You may also sign up using third-party authentication providers (Google, Apple, GitHub). You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.
2.2 Account Security
You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to:
- Use a strong, unique password
- Keep your password confidential
- Notify us immediately of any unauthorized access
- Log out from shared or public devices
Turf is not liable for any loss or damage arising from your failure to protect your account.
2.3 Account Termination
You may delete your account at any time through the Service settings or by contacting us at team@turfyeah.com. Upon deletion:
- Your account and profile information will be removed from active systems within a commercially reasonable time
- User Content will cease to be visible in the Service according to the retention and removal mechanics described in Section 3.6 (including ephemeral removal targets and any reported-content archive)
- We may retain certain connection and interaction metadata (for example, timestamps and identifiers tied to reports, safety, or abuse investigations) for up to 180 days where needed to operate the Service securely and to meet legal or safety obligations
- Content preserved in our trust and safety archive when you or another user submits a report, or when we process safety or legal requests, may be retained for the periods described in our Privacy Policy and is used only for safety, security, and legal compliance—not for marketing to you
- Where we retain de-identified or aggregated data derived from your use of the Service, it will not identify you personally, consistent with Section 3.7
2.4 Prohibited Conduct
You agree NOT to:
- Create multiple accounts to evade bans or manipulate the platform
- Share your account with others
- Impersonate another person or entity
- Use automated tools (bots, scrapers) without authorization
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other accounts or systems
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service
3. Content Policy
3.1 User Content
"User Content" means any content you post, upload, or transmit through the Service, including:
- Messages in Circles
- Profile information (username, bio, avatar)
- Images, GIFs, and media
- Votes, reactions, and interactions
3.2 Your Responsibilities
You are solely responsible for your User Content. You represent and warrant that:
- You own or have the necessary rights to post your User Content
- Your User Content does not violate any laws or third-party rights
- Your User Content complies with these Terms and our Community Guidelines
3.3 License to Turf
You retain all ownership rights in your User Content. However, by posting User Content through the Service, you grant Turf and its affiliates a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, fully paid, sublicensable, and transferable license to use, reproduce, distribute, prepare derivative works of, display, perform, and otherwise exploit your User Content in connection with the Service and Turf's business operations.
This license includes the right to:
- (a) Operate and Provide the Service: Store, display, and transmit your User Content to other users according to your settings and the nature of the Circle;
- (b) Promote the Service: Use your User Content in promotional materials, marketing campaigns, advertising, demonstrations, and other commercial purposes to promote Turf and the Service, including through sublicenses to advertising partners and media outlets;
- (c) Create Derivative Works: Modify, adapt, translate, create summaries of, aggregate, and create derivative works from your User Content, including through automated processes and artificial intelligence technologies;
- (d) Develop and Improve Features: Use your User Content to develop, test, and improve Service features, including personalization, recommendations, content moderation, and new product development;
- (e) Generate Insights and Analytics: Create aggregated, anonymized, or de-identified data, statistics, insights, and reports derived from your User Content for internal business purposes and external distribution;
- (f) Distribute Through Third Parties: Make your User Content available to partners, service providers, and sublicensees who support Turf's business operations or help distribute content.
How this license applies (Path B): Subsections (b) through (f) must be read together with Sections 3.6 and 3.7. If any language in (b)–(f) could be read broadly, Sections 3.6 and 3.7 control for ephemeral removal, reported-content handling, trust and safety, and aggregated, de-identified statistical use.
License Duration: This license continues as needed to operate the Service and for the limited retention periods described in these Terms and our Privacy Policy. Content retained in connection with reported content, trust-and-safety processing, or legal obligations remains subject to this license for those purposes. Backup copies in our systems may persist for up to 48 hours as part of ordinary technical operations. Content that has been processed into aggregated, de-identified statistical form may be retained and used as described in Section 3.7.
No Compensation: You understand and agree that you will not receive financial compensation or royalties for Turf's use of your User Content under this license.
By posting User Content, you represent and warrant that you have all necessary rights to grant this license, your User Content does not infringe any third party's rights, and you waive any moral rights with respect to Turf's use of your User Content as permitted herein.
3.4 Prohibited Content
You may NOT post User Content that:
- Illegal Content: Violates any applicable law or regulation
- Harmful Content: Promotes violence, self-harm, or dangerous activities
- Hateful Content: Contains hate speech, discrimination, or harassment based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or other protected characteristics
- Sexual Content: Contains pornography, sexual exploitation, or non-consensual intimate imagery
- Child Safety: Exploits, endangers, or sexualizes minors
- Spam: Contains spam, scams, phishing, or deceptive content
- Intellectual Property: Infringes copyrights, trademarks, or other intellectual property rights
- Privacy Violations: Shares others' private information without consent (doxxing)
- Misinformation: Spreads demonstrably false information that could cause harm
3.5 Content Moderation
Turf reserves the right to:
- Review, monitor, and moderate User Content
- Remove or restrict access to User Content that violates these Terms
- Suspend or terminate accounts that repeatedly violate our policies
- Use automated systems to detect and flag prohibited content
We are not obligated to monitor User Content, but we reserve the right to do so.
3.6 Ephemeral Design, Removal, and Archives
Turf is designed around short-lived conversations in Circles and direct messages. Message documents are written with automated removal targets (including a buffer period) so that ordinary content is not kept indefinitely in production systems. In practice, you should expect ephemeral removal on the order of roughly 48 hours after the relevant daily window for Circle messages (subject to technical scheduling and any product-specific settings), and analogous retention mechanics for direct messages as described in our Privacy Policy.
Reported content archive. When content is reported for trust-and-safety review, we may preserve that content and limited contextual capture (for example, surrounding messages needed to understand the report) in a reported content archive for trust, safety, and legal compliance. That archive is not a user-facing feature and is accessed only under controlled processes.
Metadata retention. We may retain certain metadata (for example, connection logs and identifiers tied to moderation or abuse workflows) for up to 180 days where needed to operate the Service securely and to meet safety and legal obligations, as further described in our Privacy Policy.
REPORT Act. Where applicable, we maintain processes designed to comply with U.S. federal reporting and preservation obligations for child sexual exploitation and abuse imagery, including retention for at least one year where required by law.
18 U.S.C. § 2703(f) and legal preservation. We may preserve available information in response to valid legal process and may maintain limited snapshots under legal hold workflows where required. Nothing in this Section limits our ability to comply with law.
System processes. Removal targets are enforced through automated system processes (for example, database time-to-live policies and backups). Backup systems may retain redundant copies for up to 48 hours as part of ordinary operations.
Other users. Other users may still copy or screenshot content while it is visible. Do not post anything you would not want someone else to save or share.
For how we use aggregated, de-identified statistical data, see Section 3.7.
3.7 Aggregated, De-Identified Data
We may derive and use aggregated, de-identified statistical information about how the Service is used (for example, counts, rates, and trend metrics that cannot reasonably identify you). We do not use this section to claim broad commercial exploitation of your individual messages for marketing purposes. If we materially change how we use aggregated analytics, we will provide notice consistent with Section 6 and our Privacy Policy.
3.8 Copyright Policy (DMCA)
Turf respects intellectual property rights and expects users to do the same. If you believe content on the Service infringes your copyright, you may send a notice of alleged infringement to our designated agent:
- Designated agent: Turf, Inc.
- Address: 6801 Collins Ave, Miami Beach, FL 33141, USA
- Email: team@turfyeah.com (subject line: “DMCA Notice”)
Your notice should include the information required by 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3), including identification of the copyrighted work, identification of the material claimed to be infringing with enough detail for us to locate it, your contact information, a good-faith statement, and a statement under penalty of perjury that you are authorized to act and that the information is accurate.
If we remove or disable content in response to a copyright notice, we may notify the affected user and provide information about filing a counter-notification consistent with applicable law. Repeat infringement may result in account termination under our repeat-infringer policy.
Three-strike policy: We may terminate or suspend accounts that accumulate three active copyright strikes for verified infringing activity, subject to review and any counter-notification process. We may adjust enforcement where required by law or where we determine a different response is appropriate.
3.9 Moderation and Appeals
Notice. Where reasonable and permitted by law, we may provide notice when we take enforcement action against your account or content (for example, removal or suspension), including the general basis for the action and how to appeal.
Appeals reviewer. Appeals are reviewed by a different reviewer than the initial decision where practicable, to reduce bias and improve fairness.
Evidence access. In an appeal, we may share a reasonable summary of the relevant content and policy grounds. We may not be able to share certain internal signals or legally restricted information.
Outcome communication. We will communicate the outcome of an appeal through the Service or the contact information associated with your account, consistent with safety and legal constraints.
